It took hundreds of hours writing and running software to balance the arrangements of the numbers, eliminating concentrations of high or low numbers. After I solved which faces each number should go on, I use laser marking to create high contrast, readable numbers that are a permanent discoloration of the metal itself. This leaves beautifully flat faces with no engravings to throw off weight balance and no paint to fade or wear away.
